
Kelly Clarkson became the personification of the American Dream when she won the debut season of American Idol. Clarkson conceived the notion that one could be all over the world and become an icon, something that American viewers could cling to and, most importantly to buy. When her debut album was an instant hit, she moved to another label to have more influence over her music. And her subsequent album became the most-sold album of any American Idol alum. There have been numerous awards she has received and accolades, including multiple Top Ten hits, two multi-Platinum album releases, as well as an appearance in the role of a teacher on various singing programs. She was awarded the prestigious four American Music Awards as well with twelve Billboard Music Awards. Two Grammy Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards and two Grammy Awards. There have been 98 nominations to major music awards, and seventy of them have been given.
